what is Obsessive compulsive disorder OCD?

Obsessive compulsive order (OCD) is a part of mental health problem, that can directly affect anybody, especially in teenagers and senior citizens, OCD is a type of condition in an individual experience uncontrollable thoughts and the person having OCD starts to perform repetitive behavior or any other activity with no meaning, to relieve their anxiety.

In the modern world, OCD can affect around 2-4% of the population in the world, and OCD can elevate if the condition is left untreated.

There’s no exact cause of OCD till date but research shows some important points about OCD symptoms it can be genetic and surrounding or any trauma can lead to OCD.

  • Addiction

  • Anxiety

Symptoms of OCD:

Symptoms can be different on every person they develop their own symptoms. In simple words, OCD symptoms can be different on every person, but these are main highlighted symptoms you can absorb such as intrusive thoughts, images, repetitive activity, and uncomfortable at outside and uncontrollable emotions. and these behaviour become daily part of  life for OCD person.

Other common symptoms are Fear, fear of disease ,fear of others , fears of making new friends,and fear of exploring new things, to avoid these fears OCD person start prayers and counting or any other activity which they find relief after performing and activity they feel comfortable for short period of time but that’s not the final solution for ocd.

Treatment of OCD:

Treatment of ocd requires medication and Psychotherapy and (CBT) cognitive behavioural therapy is the most efficient therapy for ocd patient and (EBT) also Exposure and response prevention (ERP).

Exposure and response prevention is a form of Cognitive behavioural therapy especially design for ocd patients, under the guidance of professional ocd peoples can reduce their anxiety and fear and certainly stop their cycle of ocd.

There are medication method also such as selective serotonin inhibitors (SSRIs) can be helpful for treatment of ocd, these medication increase the level of serotonin in brain and it can helpful to patient to their anxiety and improve their mood.

Remember if anybody having serious ocd it requires time to recover, treatment can helpful however it’s all depend on OCD patient how effectively they want to overcome from OCD.
